ACTIVE COMMUNITY PROJECTS
Blue Star Marker
at the Venice Area Chamber of Commerce on
Business US 41 was installed by the Club to honor our
Veterans. The Club maintains plantings at this site.
East and West Atria Gardens
are located within Venice City
Hall on the first floor at 401 W. Venice Avenue. A recent
addition is a hibiscus tree planter in memory of Linda Andrews.
The gardens were designed and are maintained by the Club.
John Nolen Park
is located at Avenue Des Parques and
Menendez St. It contains landscaped entries provided and
maintained by the Club.
Skip Stasko Park Rock Garden
is located off the Island of
Venice on Scenic Dr. along the Intracoastal Waterway. It is a
Sarasota County Park that was designed and planted by the Club.
Succulent Garden and Demonstration Garden
A succulent
garden is located at the Legacy Trailhead Junction near the
Historic Train Depot and the Demonstration Garden is located
at Legacy Park. The Demonstration Garden contains several
trees dedicated to former club presidents. The two gardens were
designed and are maintained by the Club.
PREVIOUS COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Blalock Park Arboretum
on S. Nassau St. is where four
Presidents’ trees and a bougainvillea trellis have been planted.
The Club also sponsored the Annual Holiday Tree Lighting
held in the park.
Casperson Park Picnic Shelter
located in the inland section of
the park was funded by the Club.
Centennial Park
is located between W. Venice Avenue and Tampa
Avenue. It contains a garden with a combination of native and non-
native Florida plants that have been planted and maintained by the
Club. Several President’s trees have also been planted here.
Downtown Flower Fountain
and large planters that adorn
W. Venice Avenue were funded by the Club.
Heritage Park
at the corner of Avenue Des Parques and West
Venice Avenue contains a bromeliad garden that was planted by
the Club. A past president’s tree was also planted there.
Heritage Park
Banyan Tree Lighting on W. Venice Avenue
was sponsored and funded by the Club.
John Nolen
Monument
at the entrance to Venice City Hall at
401 W. Venice Avenue was sponsored by the Club.
Miami Avenue Pot Projec
t along Miami Avenue was sponsored
by the Club. Funds were donated for the large pots and plants
that were used for this project.
Ruscelleto Park Pond Fountain
located at Rt. 41 By-pass and
Venice Avenue was sponsored and funded by the Club.
VABI Trailhead Building Garden
located at the end of Jake St.
and the Intercoastal Waterway was funded by the Club. Venice
Area Beautification, Inc. (VABI) manages the care.
Venice Avenue Bridge Garden Fountain
was co-sponsored
with VABI. The Club donated the funds for the three-tiered
garden fountain placed in the median on Venice Avenue just
before the entrance to Venice via the Venice Avenue Bridge.
Venetian Waterway Park
behind Venice High School was
developed by our Club and the Venice High Interact Club. The
two organizations maintained it jointly. VAGC also donated
significant amounts of funding and labor for the creation of the park.
