Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded to seniors for their first year of college enrollment. Most scholarships cover only the first year of college; however, our applicants have an opportunity to reapply each year they are in college.

Venice Area Garden Club members find it rewarding to help local students enrolled in environmental sciences, including, but not limited to Conservation, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, and Marine Biology.

Scholarship recipients and a parent are invited to be our guests at our annual Spring Luncheon, held in May, and presented their scholarship certificate.

ABOUT

The Venice Area Garden Club Scholarship Fund was established in 1981 with the first award presented in 1983 in the amount of $500.

Since 1983, our scholarships have provided over $300,000 in funds to students.

Funds for the scholarships are raised by the community and businesses to support our Garden/Home Tour and Plant Sale. Memorial Tributes are also made honoring deceased VAGC members and various other donations are made to the Fund.

The Scholarship Committee works closely with the Rotary Futures Program at Venice High School. Applications are submitted to the Club in mid-February, reviewed by our Scholarship Committee, then approved by the Board.
